Why you should not kill a house centipede if you find one inside your house

When you see a centipede in your home, it’s tempting to squash it, but they actually help by controlling pests like cockroaches, spiders, silverfish, and ants. These tiny creatures have a ravenous appetite for other insects, making them your home’s natural pest control.

While they might startle you, centipedes are harmless and don’t spread germs like other insects. So, instead of killing them, consider letting them go outside. In contrast, some insects, like bullet ants, botflies, fleas, fire ants, kissing bugs, giant hornets, tsetse flies, killer bees, driver ants, and mosquitoes, can pose serious health risks, with some carrying deadly diseases or venomous bites.
