Valeria Levitin, 39, from Monaco, is the world’s thinnest woman at just four stone, a grim reminder of the dangers of eating disorders. Disturbed by fan mail from girls wanting to mimic her skeletal frame, she warns, “I’m not going to teach young girls how to die.”
Her anorexia began in her teens, fueled by her mother’s fixation on weight and pressure to fit in after moving to Chicago at 16. A modeling career worsened things, with constant criticism of her size. By 24, weighing six stone, she was banned from dancing due to health risks.
Now unable to remember the taste of bread, Valeria dreams of motherhood as a reason to heal and is determined to fight anorexia while encouraging others to seek help.
