A neglected dog named Matt received a life-changing makeover after being rescued by the South Plains SPCA on July 16. The six-year-old dog was in severe distress, with matted fur causing open sores and severely curled nails. His condition was described as the worst case of dog neglect the SPCA had ever seen.
After sedation, the team removed nearly three pounds of matted fur, revealing a collar, debris, and raw skin underneath. Despite his hardships, Matt tested negative for heartworm and tick diseases. He is now on the road to recovery, with his fur finally free from the painful weight.
Matt’s transformation is incredible—he’s walking happily and wagging his tail for the first time in years. His future is bright, and once fully healed, he will be ready for adoption to a loving home.
