Our Dog Kept Barking Nonstop at the Thanksgiving Turkey — When I Decided to Investigate, I Ended Up Calling the Police

Last Thanksgiving, things got wild when our dog, Max, wouldn’t stop barking at the turkey my husband, Kyle, had picked up. At first, I thought he was just excited for food, but when I checked, I found a bag of cash hidden inside the bird. Max had been trying to alert me to it, not the turkey!

Kyle had gone to get the turkey from the butcher, but it took him longer than expected. When he finally returned, he looked flustered, and soon after, he had to leave again to help his mom. I was busy in the kitchen when Max started his strange behavior. I eventually removed the turkey’s plastic wrapping, only to find the money. Confused and a little worried, I called the police.

When Officers Johnson and Miller arrived, Kyle came home with his mom. Kyle was hesitant at first, but finally admitted the money was his. He’d cashed out his savings to surprise me with a trip to Hawaii and hid the cash in the turkey to keep it a secret. His plan was ridiculous, but at least he had an explanation.

After some awkward moments, the police left after confirming everything was fine. I was embarrassed, but couldn’t stay mad at Kyle for long. Later that evening, we had a laugh about it with the family, and Max got extra treats. We went to Hawaii as planned—and that’s where we conceived our baby. I’ll tell him one day how he was born because of a turkey stuffed with cash!
