They say love makes you blind, and I was proof of that. When my husband, Kyle, quit his job claiming he was sick, I trusted him without question. I worked harder, gave him all my earnings, but the truth I uncovered shattered everything.
As a wife and mom, I loved my life. I was a project manager at a software company, supporting my family with two kids, Liam and Jake. Kyle was my rock, working as an operations manager at a logistics company.
But everything changed one afternoon when Kyle came home looking pale, telling me he had muscular dystrophy. He said he couldn’t work anymore and needed expensive treatment. I agreed to work harder and even took a part-time job cleaning tables to support us. I handed him nearly all of my earnings for his treatment, and I believed he was going to appointments.
One evening, a woman in an SUV approached me, warning me to check where Kyle was going for his “treatments” and look at his bank statements. I didn’t understand, but her words lingered.
The next day, I checked his bank account and found no medical bills, just restaurant bills and luxury purchases. I followed him one evening and saw him at a bar with friends, laughing about how he’d fooled me into thinking he was sick. I was crushed.
The same woman from the SUV appeared again, revealing that her boyfriend was one of Kyle’s friends and that she couldn’t stay silent anymore.
The next morning, I took action. I called his office and froze our account, then packed my things, changed the locks, and took the kids to my parents’ house. I filed for divorce and cut him out of my life for good.
