On their tenth anniversary, Emma’s husband, Mark, took her to the most expensive restaurant in town but humiliated her by insisting she order a cheap salad while he indulged in a lavish meal. Feeling belittled, Emma vowed to get back at him.
The next evening, Emma invited Mark back to the same restaurant. She wore the red dress he loved and had prearranged everything—lobster bisque, filet mignon, the best wine, and a surprise announcement.
As dinner progressed, Emma stood up, clinked her glass, and addressed the restaurant. “Last night, my husband made me order a salad. Tonight, I’m showing him what true indulgence is.” She revealed that she had used the emergency fund Mark had hidden from her to pay for the meal—and was charging all the diners’ meals to his fund.
Mark was stunned, and the restaurant applauded as Emma walked out, leaving him humiliated. It was an anniversary neither of them would forget.
