My greedy in-laws tried to push our sick mother aside, but she outsmarted them and gave them a valuable lesson

When my in-laws, Jessica and Roger, lost their home after Roger’s job loss, my husband Cameron and I couldn’t take them in. Desperate, they asked my wheelchair-bound mother, Tanya, to let them stay in her house. She generously agreed.

At first, they helped out, but soon they began complaining about the arrangements, criticizing my mom’s space and food. Despite both finding jobs, they didn’t try to improve their situation. Things escalated when they hinted at sending my mom to a nursing home.

Tanya, however, had her own plan. She pretended to agree, moved to the second floor, and called social services. The next day, Jessica and Roger were relocated to temporary social housing, close to their jobs. Furious, they confronted us, but my mom stood her ground.

Cameron felt guilty, but my mom reassured him they’d brought it on themselves. We later visited them in their small apartment, where they admitted their mistakes. Cameron told them how disappointed he was in their behavior.

Before heading home, Cameron bought flowers for my mom, saying, “She deserves this.”
