Amber, a corporate attorney and mother, was shocked when her 7-year-old daughter Mia drew a picture of a family with Amber replaced by another woman. The drawing said, “I can’t wait for you to be my mom!” Amber, overwhelmed by work and caring for her ailing mother, felt heartbroken and confused.
When Amber asked Mia about the drawing, Mia revealed that Jack, Amber’s husband, had told her to hide it. Fearing infidelity, Amber confronted Jack. He took her to Mia’s school, where she met Clara, a teacher who had been comforting Mia. Clara explained that Mia had been feeling neglected and drawing pictures of her as a way to cope.
Amber was devastated but realized this wasn’t about betrayal—it was about Mia feeling abandoned. That night, Amber reassured Mia of her love, and over the following weeks, she made changes to prioritize her family. She reduced her work hours and created special “Mom and Mia” nights.
Amber also thanked Clara for being there for Mia. Though life wasn’t perfect, Amber learned to balance her responsibilities and ensure Mia felt loved.
