Curiosity didn’t kill the cat—it helped a desperate family find the help they needed. One morning, while picking up rolls for my mom, I found a broken phone on the street. I decided to fix it later but, out of curiosity, I used the SIM card in my phone. The only contact was “Daughter,” and when I called, a little girl named Julie answered, asking for her mom, who hadn’t returned home the day before.
Julie was alone in a wheelchair, and after learning that she had no one to help, I rushed to her apartment. We found her frail and scared, and she revealed her mother’s name was Victoria. She had gone missing after being hit by a car while trying to get medicine for Julie.
At the hospital, I confirmed that Victoria was stable but unconscious. After talking to her, I learned of her struggles—divorced, with no family, and facing overwhelming challenges. I promised to help and, with donations, arranged surgery for Julie, which allowed her to walk again.
Months later, Julie was walking, and Victoria fully recovered. Our bond deepened, and I eventually fell in love with Victoria. I never expected to find a family, but I did—and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
