Kathy Bates health: Actress ‘went berserk’ after diagnosis of ‘incurable’ condition

Kathy Bates’ interview with Dr. Phil reminds us that even Hollywood stars are ordinary people who face real struggles. The Oscar-winning actress opened up about battling ovarian and breast cancer, sharing her journey of strength and resilience.

Bates first faced ovarian cancer in 2003, undergoing surgeries and chemotherapy while keeping it private. She later revealed in 2012 that she was also diagnosed with breast cancer. With breast cancer running in her family, she opted for a double mastectomy to prevent its spread. Despite the hardships, Bates turned her experience into a source of inspiration for others.

Now cancer-free, Bates suffers from lymphedema, a condition caused by the removal of lymph nodes, which causes ongoing pain and swelling. She has become an advocate for cancer awareness and support, encouraging women to stay proactive with check-ups. She’s also an ambassador for the Lymphatic Education & Research Network, finding purpose in her struggles.
