Thanksgiving took a dramatic turn when I received a surprise turkey with a note from my husband’s mistress, Kelsey, thanking me for “sharing” my husband. I’m Amelia, 35, a wife and mom, and this holiday had always been my responsibility, while Ryan—my husband—spent his day glued to the TV.
When the turkey arrived, I thought Ryan might have planned something nice for once, but then I saw the note. After checking his phone, I discovered messages confirming the affair. Furious but composed, I decided to exact my revenge during dinner.
I presented the mystery turkey and revealed everything to our guests, including Ryan’s mother, who was shocked by the texts I showed her. Ryan’s father slammed the table, demanding answers. In front of everyone, I handed Ryan a bag with locks and a divorce lawyer’s contact info. He was to pack his things by tomorrow.
Afterward, I ignored his desperate attempts to apologize. By Christmas, I’d filed for divorce. My daughters and I spent the holidays at my mom’s, and I moved on with my life. By the next Thanksgiving, I was engaged to a wonderful man who truly cared for me. Life got better after the betrayal, and I hope others can find freedom too.
