A trip with my college friend Vivian was supposed to save my marriage, but her hidden agenda left me questioning everything.
For months, I’d felt distant from my husband, Michael. Our once spontaneous, vibrant relationship had turned into a routine, with him absorbed in work and his phone. Then, out of the blue, I ran into Vivian while shopping, and she convinced me to join her on a trip to Spain—an escape from the monotony.
In Spain, I felt alive again. Vivian dragged me through markets, cafes, and vibrant streets, urging me to embrace spontaneity. Then, by chance, I ran into Jake, my ex. After some hesitation, I agreed to have dinner with him. Vivian urged me to “live a little,” and for a moment, I did.
But the evening took a turn when Jake kissed me. Guilt hit immediately, and I rushed back to the hotel, only to find Vivian packing. She revealed she’d sent Michael a photo of me and Jake, revealing her true motive: she was after Michael. She’d been positioning herself to take my place.
I returned home, heart heavy with shame, only to find Michael waiting for me at our favorite restaurant. He’d seen the photo, but he didn’t believe it. We both admitted our faults and vowed to fix our marriage. Michael had fired Vivian, and to my surprise, he handed me a bracelet as a promise to change.
And then, in that quiet, tender moment, I told him I was pregnant. His face lit up with joy, and in that instant, I knew we were ready to start anew.
