Mufasa, a mountain lion, spent 20 years chained to a pickup truck in a traveling circus in Peru, enduring abuse for entertainment. Fortunately, in 2015, Animal Defenders International rescued him after months of work. Mufasa was freed, experiencing freedom before his health declined due to years of mistreatment.
Sadly, he passed away later that year from kidney failure and age-related issues. His story highlights the ongoing abuse many animals still face in circuses and shows, but his rescue offers hope. No animal deserves such treatment, and Mufasa’s story calls attention to the need for change.
