Michael arrives at his grandmother’s funeral, hoping to inherit the house where he grew up. The lawyer informs him that she left him only one dollar, and the house will go to someone else.
Michael drives to his grandmother’s house, finds an envelope with a note and coordinates. He follows them to a small house, where he meets Emily, who reveals she was friends with his grandmother. The lawyer confirms the house is left to her, but she offers to give it back.
Michael spends the night thinking about his life, then visits Emily the next day. He admits he’s been unhappy with his work and decides to let Emily keep the house on the condition he can visit. As they spend time together, they bond over shared moments. Michael realizes that his grandmother’s message about “things more important than money” was about Emily, not the house.
A few days later, Michael quits his job and goes to find Emily. He confesses his feelings and that he chose her over his career. Emily, touched, kisses him, and they start a new chapter together, realizing the value of love and connection over material things.
