Three-year-old Johnny started throwing tantrums and begging his mother, Marla, not to go to daycare. Concerned, Marla decided to visit unexpectedly. She found Johnny at lunch, visibly distressed as a teacher force-fed him. Johnny, a light eater, was being pushed to finish his meal, which caused him to choke and cry.
Marla confronted the teacher, angrily pointing out the harmful effects of force-feeding and the importance of respecting children’s boundaries. After the confrontation, Johnny’s behavior improved, and Marla began checking in on him at lunchtime. The teacher never forced him again, and Johnny regained his enthusiasm for daycare.
