My boyfriend maintained that his friendship with his ex was completely innocent—until one photo turned everything upside down.

I never saw myself as the jealous type, but that changed when I saw a photo of my boyfriend, Callum, with his ex, Renee, at a café. He had texted me earlier saying he was working late, but the picture was taken an hour ago. A comment on the photo, “So happy you guys are back together!” sent a chill through me.

I didn’t confront him immediately. Instead, I played it cool, pretending I had no idea. When I finally checked his phone, I saw messages with Renee about meeting up again. It was clear something was going on, and I wasn’t going to sit back anymore.

The next day, I had flowers sent to Callum and Renee at the café, with a note that read, “For the memories. Enjoy them while they last.” Callum called, clearly upset. I kept my cool, even as he scrambled to explain. He came home with Renee, and I finally demanded the truth.

It turned out Callum was buying me a surprise gift, a custom ring, with Renee’s help. I felt ashamed for jumping to conclusions, setting traps, and letting my insecurities take over.

I apologized, and Callum promised honesty moving forward. Renee smirked, and the tension finally eased. We’d be fine—as long as we kept it real from here on out.
