Taylor Swift showed her support for her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, at last night’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. She rarely misses an opportunity to watch Kelce play, and while her presence was expected, it seemed that some people were bothered by it.
When the singer was shown on the big screen in the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, many in the crowd booed her.
She appeared to give a slow side-eye to the camera before asking her friend, rapper Ice Spice, “What is going on?”
Taylor was then seen smiling and talking to those seated next to her.
However, this isn’t the first time the So High School singer has been booed at the Super Bowl. In 2023, Patriots fans started booing her while she watched her boyfriend play.
Fans on X think they know why Swift was booed during the game where the Chiefs lost.
“Eagles fans are booing her. She’s originally from the Philly area but obviously rooting for Travis and the Chiefs,” one person said.
Another added: “The boos are from Eagles fans, aka the opposite team she supports, this is normal.”
“What I don’t understand is why people booed Taylor Swift? She was literally doing nothing. She’s just there to support Travis Kelce and watch the game. It’s not like they’re going to make a Gabriella-Troy scene from High School Musical 3,” someone else commented.
One person explained the situation humorously. “Boyfriend: I can’t believe they haven’t shown Taylor Swift yet. Me: I heard they showed a shot of her in the stadium and she got booed. Boyfriend: Why’d she get booed? Me: Um, the Philadelphia Eagles are playing against her boyfriend’s team. These are the same fans who booed Santa Claus.”
The Super Bowl was also watched by President Donald Trump.
This makes him the first sitting US president to attend the game.
In the past, or during the presidential campaign last year to be exact, Swift showed her endorsement for Kamala Harris publicly, which led Trump to write on Truth Social, “I hate Taylor Swift.”
