After five years of heartbreak, Carol is finally pregnant. She keeps it a secret until her ultrasound confirms it, but when she sees her husband, Ronald, embracing a pregnant woman at the hospital, her joy turns to confusion.
Following them, Carol discovers Ronald helping the woman, Anna, into a car and going to an unfamiliar house. Inside, Ronald reveals Anna is his daughter from a previous relationship he never knew about until recently. Anna’s mother passed away, and now Ronald is building a relationship with her.
Carol, initially upset, learns she’s not facing betrayal but expanding her family. Ronald’s revelation of becoming a grandfather and her becoming a stepmother and grandmother overwhelms her. By the end, Carol’s fears are replaced by an unexpected bond, and she embraces the new family dynamics with Anna.
