Am I wrong?Am I wrong?

A churchgoer shared her discomfort about a woman with tattoos and piercings attending service, believing she didn’t dress appropriately for church. After telling the woman that her appearance was inappropriate, the woman replied, “How I look has nothing to do with you,” which made the churchgoer reflect on her judgment.

She questioned whether traditional ideas about what’s appropriate for church are outdated. In modern times, many express themselves through tattoos, so is it right to judge them for it? Some people dress modestly to show respect for the sacredness of the church, while others believe faith is about acceptance and unity, not clothing.

Tattoos and piercings reflect a person’s history and struggles, so it’s important to balance respecting individuality with honoring the church as a holy space. Churches can encourage attire that respects both personal expression and tradition, allowing people to feel comfortable while maintaining reverence for the sacred space.
