Isabelle and Abby Carlsen, born in 2006, were conjoined at birth from their chest to their stomach. Despite the high risks, doctors in Minnesota successfully separated them at six months old. Their organs were interconnected, with Isabelle’s heart tangled in Abby’s chest. After extensive preparation and a complex surgery, the separation was a success, and the girls made headlines worldwide.
Now living in North Dakota, Isabelle and Abby don’t remember being conjoined. Though they share a lively spirit, they have very different personalities and preferences, even dressing differently.
