Carl’s perfect Christmas is shattered when his daughter, Lily, refuses to open her gifts. Clutching her stuffed bunny, she tearfully reveals, “Grandpa told me the truth about Mom.”
Confused and furious, Carl learns his father told Lily her mother, Sarah, doesn’t care about her and works too much. Devastated, Lily questions her mom’s love, leaving Carl to comfort her and explain Sarah’s long shifts as a 911 dispatcher are her way of helping others while always loving her family deeply.
Fuming, Carl confronts his father, rejecting his outdated views and defending Sarah’s sacrifices. When Sarah returns home early, Lily’s joyful embrace reassures Carl of their bond. Later, Carl sets firm boundaries with his father, vowing to protect his family’s love and trust.
