On Christmas Day, A Terrible Azerbaijan Airlines Plane Crashed In Kazakhstan

Azerbaijan Airlines flight from Baku to Grozny, carrying 67 passengers and 5 crew, crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan. The plane exploded on impact, with thick black smoke surrounding the wreckage. Survivors, including two children, were left injured and confused.

The Embraer E190AR, 2,125 feet above the Caspian Sea, issued a distress call before the crash. Preliminary reports suggest an oxygen tank exploded after a bird strike. Seven of the 28 survivors remain critically ill. Tragically, both pilots are believed to have died, and only one flight attendant survived.

Azerbaijan’s President Aliyev and Russian President Putin expressed condolences. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the cause, while the community supported survivors by donating blood.
