At his father Arnold’s funeral, Ryan grows suspicious when his dog, Bella, starts barking at the closed casket. Acting on instinct, he opens it—only to find it empty.
Determined to uncover the truth, Ryan launches his own investigation. He learns of his father’s massive debt, a mysterious secretary named Miss Pearson, and a missing figurine from Arnold’s prized collection. Miss Pearson, it turns out, is the sole beneficiary of a $7 million life insurance policy, and she’s gone missing.
Ryan’s search leads him to an auction, where he uses the figurine as bait. As bids climb, his heart races when he hears his father’s voice offering $1 million. Arnold, alive and disguised, had faked his death to escape his responsibilities and run off with Miss Pearson.
Detective Bradshaw arrests Arnold, who admits to orchestrating the ruse to start a new life. Ryan confronts him, reminding him of the principles he failed to uphold. Arnold is taken away, and Ryan is left to pick up the pieces of his father’s betrayal.
