At 59, Linda Carol Trotter, adopted from Greece as a baby, discovered her biological mother was still alive and had never forgotten her. Raised in Texas, Trotter knew she was adopted, but the details of her origins were unknown. She started searching for her roots in her late fifties and discovered her birth name and birthplace in Greece.
Trotter’s search led her to her mother, Harikleia Noula, who had been misled about her daughter’s fate. Trotter’s mother had been told her baby would be placed in a safe home, but Trotter was abandoned to an orphanage. After learning the truth, Trotter was eager to reunite.
When Noula, now 80, learned her daughter was looking for her, she fainted in shock. After a phone call, Trotter traveled to Greece, where she and her mother were reunited at the airport with tears and joy. Trotter spent a week with her family in Greece, visiting often since then and even buying property. It was a beautiful story of love, family, and rediscovered roots.
