Recent plane crashes have caused many to reconsider flying, and another tragic crash has occurred off the coast of Honduras. A Lanhsa Airlines Jetstream, en route from Roatán to the mainland, crashed into the water due to a mechanical failure. There were 14 passengers and 3 crew members on board.
The plane went down about 0.6 miles from the coast after making a sharp right turn. While five people were rescued, 12 tragically lost their lives. Rescue efforts have been hampered by difficult underwater conditions, with divers facing zero visibility.
Among the deceased was a Honduran musician and politician known for his Afro-indigenous music. The U.S. State Department also confirmed the death of an American citizen in the crash.
